Week 2: The Passage of Time
DVB102: Image Production - 'The Passage of Time'. Title: Decomposing Flower Day 1. Techniques used: Point & Line, Simple Hatching, Smudging. Process: I took a picture of the flower in its current state of health and used it as a reference for the shape, form, and shading. I drew the outline of the flower softly, then made the lines stronger. I shaded the entire flower and smudged it in areas for perspective. I believe that the shading within the flower needs improvement, but the difference between the stem and flower is more prominent here than other days (the value & saturation of the green was a stark contrast to the red).

Process: I took a picture of the flower in its current state of health and used it as a reference for the shape, form, and shading. I drew the outline of the flower softly, then made the lines stronger. I shaded the entire flower and smudged it in areas for perspective. I took the picture of the flower from a different angle that allowed more of the stem to be seen which made it an improvement on the overall image. However, it is still hard to definitely see where the stem ends and the flower begins in greyscale.

Process: I took a picture of the flower in its current state of health and used it as a reference for the shape, form, and shading. I drew the outline of the flower softly, then made the lines stronger. I shaded the entire flower and smudged it in areas for perspective. I believe the shading of areas of the wilting petals was an improvement but I believe I could try to develop a method that isn't reliant on the heavy outlines of the flower.

Process: I took a picture of the flower in its current state of health and used it as a reference for the shape, form, and shading. I drew the outline of the flower softly, then made the lines stronger. I shaded the entire flower and smudged it in areas for perspective. I struggled to show that it was a shallow depth of field (i.e. that the stem wasn't in focus) when it came to drawing the image. The details of the inside were improving.
